Who Do You Think You Are, Anyway?

Uninformed Experts and General Butt Ins- the Curse of the 21st Century

The Internet?

Social media?

Society in general?

Actually, some of our octogenarians blame the invention of the television.

Some will lay the blame at the feet of the Boomers, the 60’s, societal tossing aside of the norms and rules in that decade.

The ushering in of music and fashion trends that shocked the Boomer’s parents. Divorce, the split of the “nuclear family” becoming almost “chic”.

Generation X, the first to suffer the effects.

Nevertheless, logic dictates it wasn’t the Boomers who conceived these ideas.

They merely embraced them, promulating them throughout American society at a rapid rate.

It was the so-called “Greatest Generation” who designed rock and roll, bikinis, miniskirts, the festivals… even ushering in divorce.

The Boomers didn’t question the wisdom of lowering any of society’s standards, they heartily embraced it all and asked for more.

The fools rushed in.

At any rate, the moral degradation of society accelerated rapidly over the course of the 20th Century.

I do not hesitate to say it, and my peers, Generation X are in agreement.

Boomers do not view it as such, they said it was more a liberation from oppression.

Either way, my observations aren’t about the style of dress or the music.

It is about their specific behavior that accompanied it.
